September opening plans

Plans for reopening from September 1st 2021

  • Wednesday 1st -  Staff Training Day

  • Thursday 2nd - Students in Years 7 and new to Calday Year 12 students attend site for Induction Days and their first onsite asymptomatic test. All other students to remain at home.

  • Friday 3rd – Students in Years 7 and all Year 12 students attend site. Asymptomatic testing will take place for the remainder of Year 12 students. All other students to remain at home.

  • Monday 6th – Year 13, Year 11 and Year 8 students return. Asymptomatic testing will take place during the day. Students will temporarily leave lessons for the test and then return afterwards assuming a negative result.

  • Tuesday 7th – Year 7, 8, 11, 12 and 13 students on site with the asymptomatic testing programme continuing for Year 7 and 12 for their second test. Students will temporarily leave lessons for the test and then return afterwards assuming a negative result.

  • Wednesday 8th – Year 10 and Year 9 students return to school. Asymptomatic testing will take place for these students. Students will temporarily leave lessons for the test and then return afterwards assuming a negative result.

  • Thursday 9th onwards - All students must attend site unless they have tested positive and been asked to isolate. Onsite asymptomatic testing will continue until all students have received their second onsite test.

  • Home tests will be issued until the end of September when the system will be reviewed by the government.

Please note that the asymptomatic testing programme is voluntary. We only require consent for testing from new to Calday students (i.e. Year 7 and external Year 12 students). All other students (parents) provided consent when we carried out asymptomatic testing in March.

A positive result will require a 10-day period of isolation.

Please take a few moments to ensure that you are familiar with our flowchart for managing cases of coronavirus as there are some significant changes, including that NHS Track & Trace will now be responsible for identifying close contacts of positive cases, and that students under the age of 18 or those who are double vaccinated will not be required to isolate if identified as a contact.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the school site in September. We appreciate your support with this and ask that you please take the time to review all the attached information with your children/wards to ensure a smooth return for all.
