Update 20/03/2020 08:15

You will be aware that all schools will close at the end of today (Friday 20th March 2020) and will remain closed indefinitely. From Monday 23rd March 2020 we can only be open to the children of parents who work in specific "Key Group" occupations as well as those students with Education Health Care Plans.

Overnight, more detail has now been given by the Government:

Advice for Education settings contains the list for parents to view:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

Guidance for Parents at this time, this page contains a link to the list page above:

As a key worker, your child can access our school supervision, if necessary. Please be aware that students of key workers who attend school will be completing the same work that their peers are doing from home, using our study packs sent out by their teachers from Monday.

Keyworker parents who cannot provide supervision for their child, must complete this form in full now:

Calday Key Worker Form - https://forms.gle/z7Bd22zLsUvdN4Uv6

So that we can plan effectively for Monday, we politely request that responses are received as early as possible and before 1pm today (20/03/2020).

Update: 19/03/2020

You will no doubt be aware that the Government has announced the closure of all UK schools from this Friday and until further notice.

From Monday, our school will be only open to pupils of parents who work in specific "Key Group" occupations as well as pupils with specific Health Care Plans.  Further, specific information is to follow from the Government about the groups that we will be allowed to support.

Once we know who is in this "key group" we will contact all parents asking whether your child will be in school, please help us by completing this form as quickly as possible.

Please do not send students on Monday without having confirmed their attendance via the form.

A major announcement is the cancellation of all exams for all schools. This morning in a Sky News interview, the Minister for Education has confirmed that examinations will not take place or be rescheduled. We are in the process of confirming what will be put in place to ensure, in the Government’s words “children will get the qualifications they deserve.”

We now politely request that students in years 11 and 13 remain at home from this evening, in order to reduce potential virus transmission.

Notice for parents of students years 7 - 10 and 12: Our staffing in all areas for Friday is very tight indeed and we may need to ask specific year groups to stay at home tomorrow.

On Monday our home learning plans go into operation as we do our very best to support our students with their education. Further reminders about this will follow today and on Friday.

Finally, our health must now be our priority and the staff of Calday Grange Grammar School will do everything possible to focus our efforts on this important support role from Monday onwards.

Please bear with us as we find out more about the arrangements for next week; we will update you as soon as we can.

Very best wishes, in what are very challenging circumstances for us all.
