Individual Health Care Plans
Pupils with a medical condition that requires treatment, medication or has implications for their life at school may require an Individual Health Care Plan (IHCP) that provides staff with guidance on the day to day management of their condition in school. The plan is written by either the Director of Student Services or the School Nurse in conjunction with parents, students and medical professionals if necessary.
If your child is joining the school and has a pre-existing condition that requires a plan, or if a condition develops that requires an IHCP please contact the Director of Student Services. If your child requires regular medication, please contact the Director of Student Services regarding the administration of the medication.
Health Service in School
This service is run by Cathy Lyons, School Nurse, and enables students to take responsibility for their own health by making informed choices.
Services on offer at the clinic include weight management, smoking cessation, healthy lifestyle choices, advice about drugs and alcohol, pregnancy testing, contraceptive advice, chlamydia testing and emotional health and wellbeing.
The School Nurse is based in E Block and she and a youth worker are available from 12:30pm to 1:30pm every Wednesday. A timetable is placed on her office door every week so students can gain access to her at other times if they need to. This is a confidential service.
Health Services in Schools also run a confidential smoking cessation clinic for 12-18 year olds every Thursday 11.50-1.40. It is a drop in session where advice and support is given. Individual appointments can be arranged at other times. Please contact Sarah Williams Health Improvement Practitioner if you want to know more about the service on 07748 333180 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
