DofE Award 2020/21
Due to restrictions currently in place we are unfortunately unable to invite parents to attend an information evening at school. However both the official DofE website dofe.org and these pages hopefully will contain everything you need to know about the award. If you are new to the award as either a parent or participant we strongly advise you to take time to work through the information provided and review the guidance notes, costs and expedition dates fully before you apply.
If you do have any further questions that have not been answered please email us; email@example.com
Video Presentation for Bronze
Once your son or daughter has decided to apply for an award the first step is to complete the online application form. ALL students must fill in the application form even if they are applying for expedition trips not completed this year. The latest date to complete the online form is the end of September 2020 for Bronze and Silver and the end of October 2020 for Gold.
Expeditions for 2020/21
Although school trips are not currently permitted, we have planned next year's programme on the basis that this will change before our expedition season is due to start in April 2021. However please be aware that there is a possibility that if restrictions are still in place then expeditions may not be possible. In this situation a refund for costs not already incurred will be calculated at that time. As a general guide, if expeditions do not take place in the school year 2020/21 then the deposit payment is likely to represent the value of costs already incurred. Parents therefore could expect a refund of all monies paid LESS the deposit payment.
In the event expeditions cannot be undertaken, Bronze and Silver participants on completion of the other three activity sections will receive a certificate of achievement and be given the opportunity of completing the expedition section and therefore their full award at a later date. If there is disruption to Gold expeditions these students would have no other option to complete expeditions during their time at Calday. These participants would have no alternative but to complete their expeditions at a later date with an external provider, University or similar organisation for example. Participants have until they are 25 years of age to complete an award.
It is not possible to give refunds for students who choose to withdraw from the programme at any point during the process for any other reason. In any other scenario the deposit payment is non refundable.
