Ofsted Inspection

Ofsted inspectors carried out a Section 8 inspection at the school on 25 and 26 September 2019.

During the inspection, they spoke with students about life at school and their work. They had meetings with senior leaders, subject leaders, teachers, support staff and governors. The inspection focused deeply on English, Mathematics, History and Art. They met with subject leaders, spoke with students, visited lessons, looked at students’ work and met with teaching staff. Other subjects were considered as part of the inspection.

We were delighted that the inspectors recognised that we create a highly ambitious culture at our School and that our staff encourage students to develop a strong sense of social responsibility. They also recognised that our safeguarding remains effective and that our students enjoy school and they say that they feel safe. Students are confident that staff will listen and take care of them.

The overall judgement was that Calday Grange Grammar School remains a good school. There are areas identified within the report where we can make further improvements and we are working hard to embed these changes.

The final report can be viewed here and we urge parents to read the report in detail to fully appreciate its content.
