Calday receives the Green Flag Award!

Calday awarded the Green Flag Award 🌿

Over the past 4 years, Calday has been working towards the prestigious 'Green Flag Award' as part of an international scheme ran by Eco-Schools. Since 2017, the Eco Council, Premises Team, Mrs Storey and SLT have worked tirelessly to make our school more environmentally friendly - and now we have reached a significant milestone in our fight for green.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that our Green Flag Application had been successful, meaning we are now officially a Green Flag School!

The award has been granted due to us significantly reducing the litter on site and in the community, increasing Biodiversity (such as having Bee and Butterfly gardens, wild areas and hedgehog houses) and reducing our waste.

This would not have been possible without the co-operation and positive attitudes of students and staff's, so a huge thank you - and well done as every little greener change has made a difference.

The Premises Team also deserves a big thank you and well done for their tireless, wonderful support and help they have provided to achieve the Green Flag over the past 4 years and their continuous efforts to make Calday a brilliant environment to learn in.

In addition, Lynn, the Eco-Schools Officer for Wirral Borough Council deserves many thanks for her expert guidance and support!

Finally, thank you to Mr Gray and Mrs Storey for their constant support, patience and enthusiasm throughout this process.

In September, there will be more exciting projects and creative campaigns so keep your eyes peeled!

Enjoy your summer,

The Eco Council
