Homework
Why we set homework
- Apply learning from lessons to new situation to develop new skills
- Evaluate your own learning and allow you to raise any issues with your teacher
At Calday we will do our best to:
- Set homework on a regular basis
- Set tasks which are suitable and achievable
- Relate homework tasks to work done in class
- Provide support for students at school – e.g. dedicated rooms, library facilities etc.
- Assess homework and give feedback and encouragement.
Homework timetable
This information is meant as a guide to expectations regarding the amount and frequency of homework set. It will vary depending on the nature of the homework, for example, Mathematics may set two shorter homeworks in a week rather than a single, one hour homework if the teacher thinks it is appropriate.
The principle is that appropriate homework is set regularly to support learning. Students will be given appropriate time to complete homework and where possible, will not get just one night to complete it.
