Music

Calday Grange Grammar School has a very active and flourishing music department.

The music department runs a busy extra curricular programme which caters for a number of musical interests.  Music is represented by many different ensembles, including orchestras, jazz bands, wind bands, chamber ensembles  and rock bands. There are also several choirs including the Senior and Junior choirs. Students of all abilities are welcome. Please view the enrichment programme at Calday.

We also take part in competitions and came second in the 2019 Wirral Music Festival. Take a look at a video of the performance.

Some particularly memorable performances were:

  • Cologne Cathedral
  • Menin Gate, Last Post Ceremony – Ypres
  • Barcelona Cathedral
  • Aix en Provence Cathedral

Whilst performing is the main focus of the tour, it is also important for the choir to experience the culture of the country and of course have the opportunity to explore the area being visited.

The tour choir work hard in preparation for tours. They not only attend regular school choir rehearsals but also separate rehearsals after school. Before every music tour, a pre-tour concert is performed to parents and staff of Calday.
