Cookery

Opened in September 2010, our light and airy cooking suite provides facilities for groups of up to 14 students to learn and cook together. Highlights of the well-equipped suite include electric ovens, gas hobs and a video/TV demonstration facility.

As well as being used for lessons the suite is home to a number of different enrichment cookery programmes.

The Key Stage 3 Cookery Club

Is delivered by Mrs Dean and Mrs Rowlands and is held after school on either a Tuesday or Wednesday evening between 3:40pm - 5:45pm.

Courses are offered in 6 week blocks, the first term is usually offered to year 7 students only, (subject to demand), and then courses after Christmas are opened up to students in year 8.

Students provide their own ingredients for a range of savoury and sweet dishes. Ingredients required for all of the recipes featured can be found below. They are listed in alphabetical order and students will be informed each week what they will be cooking the next.

Students may store their ingredients in the cookery suite before form period on the day of their session, using the fridge for fresh ingredients if required.

Pre booking is essential, to book a place please fill in the booking form found to the right of this page. You will be contacted regarding the earliest possible place.

Due to the popularity of cookery courses it is not possible for all students to attend in the first term. Everyone who wishes to attend will be given the opportunity to do so during the course of the year.

There is no charge to attend cookery club. The club is funded by contributions made to the school enrichment fund.

The DofE Cookery Club

Is run by Mrs Dean and is held on a Monday evening after school between 3:40pm and 5:40pm. Various courses are run across the year subject to demand. The course qualifies for the skill section of the bronze award scheme and costs £40 per student. Students provide their own ingredients.

Pre booking is essential, to book a place students must first be registered on to the DofE bronze programme, students will then be invited to apply by calling in to the Community Office or emailing:dofe@calday.co.uk.
