Exceptional Success at A Level
Students and staff at Calday Grange Grammar School are celebrating another year of exceptional success with their A Level results in spite of the considerable disruption and cancellation of examinations.
The results end 7 years of hard work and commitment from students, staff and parents in the face of national changes in specifications and increased course rigour, as well as COVID-19.
Despite adversity, these students have achieved excellent results with a pass rate of 99.3% at grades A*-E.
These figures continue to build on previous years’ results and it is also shown in the average points per entry at 38.9 (average grade B). There was also an impressive number of A*- A grades, at 34.8% of the cohort, whilst 63% of all students gained A*- B grades this year.
Headteacher, Mr Stephen Gray, commented:
“On behalf of the Governing Body and staff at Calday Grange Grammar School, I would like to congratulate our students on their excellent results. It has been a very difficult and unprecedented year. I can only pay tribute to the hard work and resilience of our students, many of whom have achieved amazing grades on a personal level. It was an unfortunate ending to their school life, but they have acquitted themselves honourably. We wish our students well in the next stage of their lives and are very proud of their achievements.”
With the recent announcement of the mock examination appeals process, these results are set to improve further for some students and we eagerly await details of how we can continue to support our students with these appeals going forward. All students will have the opportunity to do an examination in their chosen subject in October and we are sure that many will improve upon these calculated grades.
Many students will now be moving off to take up places at universities across the country, several students will also be entering into higher level apprenticeships and some will be taking up placements internationally.
We wish them all well and can’t wait to hear of their further achievements.
